Areas of Practice

Business Litigation

No matter what your business is, unfortunately, there will be times when you come into dispute with a partner, vendor, competitor, or even customer. For whatever issues arise for you and your business, we can help you back to doing what you do best.

Intellectual Property Litigation

For many artists, creators, and companies, their “secret sauce” is the intellectual property they’ve spent time and money creating. Whether they are copyrights, trademarks, or trade secrets, when disputes over infringement, ownership, or attribution arise, we’re there to help.

Web3 Disputes

The new world of digital assets has created an entirely new space for business to grow. However, with that growth comes traditional concepts of liability and risk. Your web3 endeavor deserves lawyers who speak both languages.

Jake M. Gilbert

Founder

Jake Gilbert is a technology lawyer deeply experienced in commercial and intellectual property litigation, as well as insurance disputes and entertainment counseling. He has worked with novel technologies like cryptocurrencies, blockchains, and distributed autonomous organizations (DAOs) as well as more traditional brick-and-mortar businesses. Because of this fluency, he has often been called to bridge the gap between technologists, C-suite executives, and even other lawyers to boil complex concepts into crucial talking points.

He has also litigated traditional disputes in state and federal court, including breaches of contract, unfair competition and other business torts, business divorces, shareholder derivative suits, consumer class actions, and traditional copyright and trademark infringement claims.

Sample Engagements:

  • Represented a major electronics manufacturer against Lanham Act and false advertising claims

  • Represented an agricultural technology startup in fraud litigation brought by an investor

  • Represented a national clothing retailer in numerous copyright and trademark lawsuits

  • Represented a web3 comic book startup against misappropriation and unfair competition claims

  • Represented a digital artist in business divorce and copyright infringement proceedings

Admitted to Practice in:

  • California State and Federal Court

  • New York State and Federal Court

  • Maryland
